The Los Angeles Lakers are rumoured to be seeking for a strong squad for the frame during the offseason. Furthermore, the aim is a third star.
The league’s belief is that the Angelino squad is considering signing Kyrie Irving because of LeBron James.
“I wouldn’t want the message going around if I were a franchise manager. After all, everyone’s feeling is that hiring Kyrie is not the organisation’s idea.” Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said.
“The deal would be just a player’s will, to sum up. They are not the ones who want Kyrie, but LeBron.” Pelinka added.
Last offseason, Irving attempted to push a move to the Lakers, but the franchise remained uninterested.
Meanwhile James has motivated a team onslaught on a star. Russell Westbrook, however, proved to be an audience and critics failure in the franchise.
“It seems that we are facing, once again, a clash between the star and the direction.” Pelinka added.
“Last time, the truth is, he won and got Russell signed. So, seeing how it all ended, I think you should think twice about what you want,” Pelinka added.
However, James’ unexpected comments regarding retirement following the elimination bolster the story around Irving’s recruit.
According to Athletic’s Jovan Buha, many people behind the scenes see the winger’s posture as a threat for the team to seek squads.
But at first, this is just speculation. One fact, on the other hand, is that the playmaker did not like to see the Lakers lose the chance to trade for Irving in February.
He avoided controversy, but suggested he would love to play with the controversial star again. Both James and Irving were NBA champions in 2016, playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“I can’t come here and pretend I’m not disappointed that we lost Kyrie. It’s not just a great talent, but a player with whom I’ve already built a rapport on the court.” James said.
