Lionel Messi 2022 FIFA Best Player, Beats Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema!

PSG striker, Lionel Messi was named the best FIFA player in 2022 at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022. Messi defeated two of his competitors, namely Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema.

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022 award event took place in Paris, France, on Tuesday 28 February 2023. For the first time since January 2020, invited guests can attend the event in person after previously doing it via virtual due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the event, Lionel Messi won the award as the 2022 FIFA Best Men’s Player. This award is considered very worthy for the player nicknamed La Pulga.

How could it not be, Messi was able to record various brilliant achievements in 2022 yesterday. One of them is helping the Argentina national team to win the 2022 World Cup.

Not only that, Messi also won the title as the best player at the 2022 World Cup. Moreover, the former Barcelona player’s contribution to PSG in the 2022-2023 season was quite good after scoring 17 goals and 16 assists from 28 matches in all competitions.

Messi managed to beat his two competitors, namely Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema. Mbappe himself is included as a candidate for the best FIFA men’s player in 2022 after becoming the top scorer at the 2022 World Cup by scoring eight goals.

Meanwhile, Karim Benzema is the winner of the 2022 Ballon d’Or title. In which, Benzema successfully led Real Madrid to win the 2021-2022 Spanish League and Champions League titles and collected 44 goals and 15 assists from 46 matches in all competitions.

For additional information, Lionel Messi now has seven world’s best player trophies. The seven titles are FIFA World Player (2009), FIFA Ballon d’Or (2010, 2011, 2012, 2015), and FIFA The Best (2019 and 2022).

There are nine awards given to players and coaches at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022. Among them are Best Male Player, Best Female Player, Best Male Coach, Best Female Coach, Best Male Goalkeeper, Best Female Goalkeeper, FIFA Puskas Award, Supporters Best, and the 2022 Fair Play Award.

Lionel Messi won the best male player award for 2022. Messi defeated two of his competitors, namely Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema.

Meanwhile, the 2022 best female player award went to Alexia Putellas. The player from Barcelona is superior to two other candidates, namely Beth Mead and Alex Morgan.

Furthermore, Lionel Scaloni won the award as the best male coach in 2022. Scaloni, who successfully led the Argentina national team to win the 2022 World Cup, defeated two other coaches, namely Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola.

Apart from Lionel Scaloni and Lionel Messi, there is another Argentine national team player who won an award at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022. He is the goalkeeper, namely Emiliano Martinez.

Not only the players and coaches, Argentina also received another award. The award is FIFA 2022 best supporter.
