Lionel Messi reportedly asked to be returned to his old club, Barcelona. The root of the problem is because the superstar is reportedly fighting with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Mauro Icardi.
El Nacional’s report, citing the Mirror, Friday (22/1/2021) claimed that the atmosphere in the dressing room of Les Parisiens – the nickname of PSG – had not been conducive since Messi’s arrival. It is reported that Icardi thinks Messi has not liked him for a long time.
This was allegedly the reason why Icardi was never again called up to the Argentine National Team. The last time Icardi played for Argentina was when Argentina met Mexico, on November 21, 2018.
Since then, Icardi has not been seen again in the squad for La Albiceleste -Argentina’s nickname. This is exacerbated by the arrival of Messi to the Parc Des Princess.
Icardi worries that Messi could destroy his PSG career. The reason is, with the availability of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria plus Messi, the struggle for regular positions for the front line posts is getting tighter.
However, the report also conveys the opposite. El Nacional reported that Messi invited Sergio Aguero (Barcelona striker) to join PSG. As is known, Messi and Aguero have forged a close friendship for a long time.
Messi and Aguero were roommates whenever both were called up to represent Argentina. Aguero also chose Barcelona as his next port with the aim of wanting to play with his best friend.
