Mohamed Salah was in the spotlight after Liverpool beat Bournemouth 9-0 in the fourth week of the Premier League at Anfield Stadium, Saturday (27/8).
Mo Salah, the Egyptian striker’s nickname, became a conversation because he did not contribute either through goals or assists for the Reds’ goal party.
The nine Liverpool goals were scored by Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz with two goals each, while Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho contributed one goal. Another goal through an own goal Chris Mepham.
As for assists, Firmino provided three passes, Kostas Tsimikas had two assists, while Andy Robertson had one assist.
For many, Liverpool’s victory felt strange because there were no assists and goals from Salah.
ESPN FC even made a meme of Salah with the expression ‘can’t believe it’ because he didn’t make a real contribution to the big win.
Salah himself got a golden opportunity in the 16th minute when he got a pass from Elliott. However, the moment at the goal mouth could not be used by Salah because the ball he cheated flew over the bar.

In addition to discussing Salah’s contribution on the field, netizens also discussed the appearance of the former AS Roma player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Liverpool finally took a 5-0 lead in the first half after defender Virgil van Dijk found the net against Bournemouth in the 45th minute.
Early in the second half (46′) the Reds were 6-0 up thanks to an own goal by Chris Mepham who misjudged Alexander-Arnold’s cross.
In the 62nd minute Liverpool added to Bournemouth’s suffering with a 7-0 advantage through Firmino’s second goal. Firmino scored the goal without looking at the goal or no look goal.
The goal process started from Andy Robertson’s cross from the right side. The first cross was pushed over by goalkeeper Travers.
A wild ball fell at Firmino’s feet and was ripped off, but Travers blocked it. In the second attempt Firmino tried to score by looking to the other side, not at Bournemouth’s goal.
Fabio Carvalho who came on in the second half destroyed the Bournemouth defense with an 8-0 advantage after maximizing Tsimikas’ assist.
Through Tsimikas’s assist, Diaz also scored the second goal that put Liverpool 9-0 up in the 85th minute and closed the game.
This landslide victory was a sign of Liverpool’s revival which in the previous match was beaten by Manchester United 1-2 at Old Trafford.
