Liverpool must replace 8 coaches for English Premier League champions

Liverpool must replace eight different coaches with permanent status to win the English Premier League this season. The 2019/2020 Premier League champion label became the first league title for the Reds in 30 years, after the last time they champion in 1989/1990.

In the 1989/1990 season, Liverpool won the English Premier League when coached by Kenny Dalglish. However, when the following season (1990/1991) was not over, Dalglish was kicked out and replaced by Ronnie Moran as a caretaker.

Moran himself only handled Liverpool in 10 matches, before management appointed Graeme Souness as the new coach. Souness was Liverpool’s first coach in the Premier League era.

During three seasons dealing with Liverpool, Souness did not give many titles. The trophy presented by the Scottish coach was only the 1991/1992 FA Cup title.

Souness was expelled in January 1994, and was replaced by Roy Evans. Evans’s fate is not much different from his predecessor, Souness.

In five seasons, the trophy Evans gave was only the 1994/1995 League Cup. In the Premier League, Liverpool’s best achievement was twice in third place.

In November 1998 Liverpool appointed Gerard Houllier as the new coach. Liverpool road to become champions in the English Premier League has open. In the 2001/2022 season, the Reds were almost champions. They occupy the runner-up position at the end of the season.

However, Houllier gave Liverpool several trophies, from the FA Cup to the Europa League.

Failing to win with Houllier, Liverpool turned to Rafael Benitez. But Benitez did not also give the league title to Merseyside Red. The best position is only runner-up season 2008/2009.

Not much different from Houllier, despite failing to win the English Premier League, Benitez gave the fifth Champions League title to Liverpool.

In the 2010/2011 season Liverpool handled Roy Hodgson, but not for long. Hodgson is the Liverpool coach in the Premier League era, the fastest being kicked out

In January 2011 Liverpool again recruited Dalglish. However, on this second occasion Dalglish did not give the title. Brendan Rodgers who coached Liverpool since 2012-2015 is also without a title.

Until finally Liverpool met Klopp. But Klopp’s struggle was also not for a moment. It took the German coach 3.5 years to give Liverpool the first title, Champions League 2018/2019.

Meanwhile, to win the English Premier League trophy that Liverpool have been waiting for, Klopp needs more than 4 seasons.
