Liverpool vs Crystal Palace results: Score 0-1

Liverpool suffered defeat in Week 33 of the 2023/2024 Premier League. Facing Crystal Palace at Anfield, the Reds fell with a score of 1-0.

The only goal in this match was scored by Eberechi Eze in the first half.

Thanks to this defeat, Liverpool slipped to third place in the EPL standings. Meanwhile, these additional three points moved Palace up to 14th place.

Having the status of host, Liverpool immediately stepped on the gas from the start of the match. Jurgen Klopp’s team tried to score a quick goal in this match.

In the eighth minute, Liverpool had a golden opportunity through Darwin Nunez’s kick from the left side, but unfortunately his kick went straight to Dean Henderson and the ball was well secured.

In the 14th minute, Crystal Palace successfully opened the scoring over the hosts. Starting from Mitchell’s pass from the left side, Eze, who was unmarked in the penalty box, easily put the ball into Alisson’s goal. The visiting team leads 1-0 in this match.

Liverpool almost conceded three minutes later after Virgil van Dijk slipped while trying to cut off Palace’s pass. Mateta managed to take the ball then ran into the Liverpool penalty box and fired a chip shot at the Liverpool goal, but unfortunately the ball was swept by Andy Robertson at the goal mouth.

Liverpool threatened again in the 27th minute when there was chaos in front of the Palace goal. Van Dijk successfully kicked the ball, but unfortunately it hit the Palace crossbar.

One minute later, it was Luis Diaz’s turn to threaten after receiving Robertson’s cross, then he fired a volley but the ball was parried by Henderson.

The buying and selling of attacks continued, but the 1-0 score lasted until halftime in Palace’s favor.

Entering the second half, Jurgen Klopp made one substitution. Dominik Szoboszlai comes on to replace Wataru Endo.

Only three minutes into the game, Liverpool made a second change. Conor Bradley, who was injured, was replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

At the start of the second half, Liverpool appeared dominant. They dominated possession of the ball, forcing Crystal Palace to defend quite deep and rely on counter-attacks to endanger the Reds’ goal.

In the 55th minute, Darwin Nunez again missed a golden opportunity after he grabbed Virgil van Dijk’s header but the ball headed back towards Henderson.

Crystal Palace really frustrated Liverpool in this match. The reason is that the Eagles defended tightly and did not allow Liverpool to create dangerous opportunities.

In the 74th minute, Palace almost extended their lead to 2-0 if Mateta’s shot had not been stopped by Alisson from close range.

In the remainder of the second half, Liverpool continued to put pressure on Palace. However, until the match ended, the score 1-0 remained in favor of the Eagles.
