Liverpool successfully defeated Lille with a narrow score of 2-1 in the matchday 7 League Phase of the 2024/2025 Champions League held at Anfield, Tuesday (21/1/2025).
Liverpool’s two winning goals were scored by Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott. Lille had equalized the score thanks to Jonathan David’s goal.
Thanks to this result, Liverpool is increasingly perched firmly at the top of the standings with a perfect score of 21 points from seven matches. Meanwhile, Lille dropped to 11th place with 13 points.

Mohamed Salah was named man of the match in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Lille.
UEFA panelists voted Salah as the best player of the match. His contribution of one goal plus his performance throughout the match certainly made Salah worthy of this award.
“He scored, had the most attempts on goal and looked the most dangerous attacking player on the night,” said the UEFA panelists.
Overall, Salah recorded six shots, nine touches in the opponent’s penalty box and two passes into the final third.
