Liverpool had to admit PSG’s superiority through a penalty shootout 0-1 (1-4) in the second leg of the 2024/2025 Champions League round of 16 held at Anfield, Tuesday (11/3/2025).
Ousmane Dembele’s goal early in the first half made the aggregate score 1-1 after Liverpool won 1-0 in the first leg. The draw lasted until normal time and extra time ended.
The winner had to be determined through a penalty shootout. In this round, two Liverpool kickers, Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones failed to score. PSG emerged victorious with a 4-1 advantage.

The UEFA panel voted Donnarumma as the Player of the Match. Donnarumma played a key role in PSG’s progress, particularly his performance in the penalty shootout.
“Donnarumma was decisive in his decision-making throughout the evening, making one outstanding save in normal time and two crucial penalty shootout saves,” the UEFA panel said.
In the penalty shootout, Donnarumma was outstanding, successfully blocking penalties from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones.
