Liverpool vs Wolverhampton results: Score 2-0

Liverpool managed to win the match against Wolverhampton in Week 38 of the 2023/2024 Premier League at Anfield, Sunday (19/05/2024).

This match was quite interesting. However, Liverpool is generally more dominant.

Liverpool’s goals were scored by Alexis Mac Allister and Jarell Quansah. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton had to play with 10 players after Nelson Semedo received a red card.

This victory solidifies Liverpool in third place in the 2023/2024 Premier League final standings. They scored 82 points from 38 matches. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton is in 14th position with 46 points.

Liverpool immediately appeared to put pressure on Wolverhampton’s defense. They try to play patiently.

They are pressing from all sides. But unfortunately it was difficult for Liverpool to penetrate Wolves’ layered defense.

Van Dijk tried to break the deadlock with a long-range shot. But the ball still headed straight into the arms of the Wolves goalkeeper.

In the 17th minute Wolves launched a counterattack. As a result, Hwang Hee-Chan was able to shoot with his left foot in the penalty box. But the ball was still pushed over by Alisson.

In the 28th minute, Wolves had to play with 10 players. The reason is that Semedo was given a red card after being deemed to have made a dangerous tackle on Mac Allister. His foul was analyzed by VAR and he was eventually sent off.

Liverpool finally scored a goal in the 33rd minute. Eliott sends an in-swinging cross from the right. The ball was struck by Mac Allister. 1-0!

In the 40th minute Liverpool scored their second goal. From a corner kick on the left side of the Wolves goal, the ball was headed in the middle of the penalty box and continued rolling to the far post to Salah. He fired a right footed shot and it was blocked by the Wolverhampton defender. However, there was Quansah who made a block so that the ball still went into the goal. 2-0!

This score lasted until halftime. Liverpool 2-0 Wolverhampton.

At the start of the second half Liverpool immediately scored a goal via Alexis Mac Allister. However, this goal was disallowed because the ball had previously left the field before being fed by Luis Diaz into the middle of the penalty box.

In the 50th minute Liverpool almost scored another goal. Gakpo managed to send a pass from the right halfspace after passing Jose Sa. Luis Diaz struck the ball but hit the crossbar and then bounced to the ground. Unfortunately the ball did not completely cross the goal line.

Seven minutes later Gakpo got a good early cross from the right and he met it in the middle of the penalty box. His control was perfect and he successfully fired his left foot. However, the ball was blocked by Jose Sa.

The attack continued and after several passes, Trent made a well-aimed pass to Mac Allister from outside the penalty box. However, Mac Allister failed to deflect the ball perfectly in the middle of the penalty box and the ball bounced off target.

In the 68th minute, Salah almost broke through Wolverhampton’s goal. He had the chance to shoot a curling shot from inside the penalty box into the top right corner of the goal. However, the ball was pushed over by Jose Sa.

In the 85th minute, Wolverhampton scored a goal with Doherty’s header after receiving an in-swinging pass from outside the penalty box in the left halfspace. But the goal was disallowed because he was caught offside first.

In the end, no additional goals were scored even though Liverpool tried to press in the remaining time. The Reds won 2-0 over Wolverhampton.
