Honda Racing Corporation has announced Marc Marquez’s new teammate for the next two years. The departure of Dani Pedrosa, with whom he has been team since 2013, touches him, according to reports.
This will change in a few months as Pedrosa leaves, and will be replaced by current Ducati driver Jorge Lorenzo. It is obviously with a little trouble that the reigning world champion welcomes the news.
Pedrosa is an ideal teammate for Marquez as he did not work on his flowerbeds. Since his arrival at the Japanese manufacturer, Marquez has indeed dominated his compatriot.
This season, Pedrosa is suffering a difficult start to the campaign, he sits 12th in the MotoGP standings after three retirements from six races and a best finish of fifth, but his contract expires at the end of this year.
The 32-year-old rider has also won only nine GPs since 2013. Discrete, uneventful, the Spaniard worked without making more noise than necessary. The situation should change with the arrival of Lorenzo.
Lorenzo left Movistar Yamaha in 2016 after winning three MotoGP titles in 2010, 2012 and 2015. The 31-year-old rider suffered bad luck in the 2017 season with Ducati. He has continued to struggle this season, retiring at both Qatar and Spanish Grand Prixs.

However, his victory at Mugello has allowed him to regain the serenity, the confidence that have been so lacking in recent months, to silence criticism.
“I was not taken seriously. Because before the Grand Prix of Italy, few people believed in what I said putting forward the bad results.” Lorenzo told Speedweek.
“I am not someone who is looking for excuses, and my requests were well founded, I say only the truth but many people think the opposite.
“And that proved true when Ducati finally reached my request for modification on the bike, that is to say, this tank ergonomics so special.
“Many said I could not win on a Ducati according to my method. Well these people were wrong because I won my way to Mugello, I won with my method. And I hope that now, we will not believe me anymore.” Lorenzo added.
According to reports, Lorenzo will ride a factory RC213V together with current championship leader Marquez in 2019 season. And Honda expects that will make a stronger team in the feature.
