Finished at eight at the Dutch Grand Prix, Loris Baz got his second top-10 of the season. And the best result of his MotoGP career at Assen.
Fourteenth on the grid, Baz could hope to return to the top-10 at Assen, due to the particular conditions where he is generally comfortable. Forty-two minutes after leaving, the Frenchman was the eight man to cross the finish line. It was necessary to go back to Sepang 2016, in Malaysia, when he finished at fifth, to see it was well classified.
“The first laps proved to be complicated,” Baz said. “I lacked feeling on the front of my machine, mainly due to the little rolling that we carried out on the dry. In addition, my right arm makes me suffer more and more.
Baz also said that the key to attack the race is keeping the tires temperature during the race despite he suffer with his right arm. “I immediately felt that there was a shot to play. I attacked as much as possible to keep my tires at temperature, as it is often the key in the conditions.” Baz said.
“I nevertheless managed to go back to the rankings. Iannone and I led a fight to elbow-to-elbow, which benefited Abraham who narrowly doubled us. I am still satisfied with this result this arm that disturbs me more and more.” he added.
Meanwhile, these 8 points marked him back to contact with Alvaro Bautista and Scott Redding in the table standings. If were to overtake them, Baz would be become number 4 Ducati drivers. His team-mate Hector Barbera is currently 10 points behind him.
