The elite club of the Saudi Arabian League, Al Hilal, is not discouraged after missing the opportunity to sign Lionel Messi. Now, Al Hilal is targeting Neymar, who is Messi’s former teammate.
Al Hilal’s opportunity to get the services of the world’s most expensive player is quite open. The reason is, Paris Saint-Germain, which owns the player, is willing to let go of the Brazilian international striker. Understandably, PSG is “cleaning the warehouse”.
The French League giants have confirmed the departure of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos who are free transfers. Neymar also has the potential to leave the Parc des Princes even though the former Barcelona star is still under contract until 30 June 2025.
PSG are open for offer for Neymar. Last year, Neymar triggered a clause allowing him to unilaterally renew his contract at PSG until 2027 but is now eyeing a summer separation. CBS Sports and RMC Sport claim that Saudi Arabia will be Neymar’s destination if he leaves the French capital club. According to the two media outlets, Neymar was Al Hilal’s target, who had just lost Messi.
The latter name chose the MLS club, Inter Miami, as the new port. In fact, Al Hilal is ready to pour out big funds to get Messi’s signature. Unfortunately, the winner of the 2022 World Cup title with the Argentine national team was not tempted to join Al Hilal. Messi sticks to his decision to play in the United States League.
Failing to get Messi, Al Hilal shifted his aim to Neymar. CBS Sport reports that the Saudi Arabian Pro League club is ready to give a salary of more than 200 million euros per season to sign Neymar. Of these funds, PSG will receive 45 million euros as a transfer fee for the former Santos and Barcelona star.
However, Al Hilal’s efforts are difficult to materialize because Neymar still wants to play in Europe. Moreover, elite Premier League clubs namely Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United have been linked with the 31-year-old player. In fact, Neymar has decided to stay in Paris. But he changed his mind in May 2023 after a large group of PSG ultras gathered outside his home in the French capital to urge him to leave the club.
Neymar has been defending PSG for six years. He was brought in from Barcelona in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee of 222 million euros, which made him the most expensive player in the world. While defending Les Parisiens, Neymar was involved in 173 competitive matches. He contributed 118 goals and 77 assists.
Unfortunately, Neymar’s presence never materialized PSG’s big dream of winning the Champions League. Even after hooking Messi and Ramos, PSG has not been able to win the Champions League trophy which has never been achieved in the club’s history.
