Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, is said to love Chelsea. Osimhen is also said to want to join the Blues – Chelsea’s nickname – next season.
This was claimed directly by his own agent, and former Chelsea star, John Obi Mikel. He revealed that Osimhen was very interested in joining Mauricio Pochettino’s team because he really loves Chelsea.
Moreover, Osimhen wants to follow in the footsteps of his seniors from Nigeria who once played for the London club. Among them, there are Victor Moses to Celestine Babayaro.
“I think there is a genuine attraction between the two. “I think he loves this club (Chelsea), he wants to come to the club,” said Mikel as quoted by the Evening Standard, Friday (1/3/2024).
“Obviously, he wants to follow in my footsteps as a Nigerian who has played for Chelsea – Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro, not many of us,” he added.
The Blues – Chelsea’s nickname – are reportedly eager to bring in a new striker in the next summer transfer market. Because their front line is currently quite dull so they often have difficulty scoring goals.
Osimhen is also the top target being targeted by Chelsea next summer. Napoli’s performance which has declined drastically after winning the Italian League last season has reportedly also made the Nigerian sticker intend to leave his club at the end of this season.
Osimhen himself has a release clause of £113 million in his contract. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Manchester United are two teams also said to be interested in signing him, so Chelsea will have fierce competition to secure his services.
Nevertheless, Mikel tried hard to convince the 25 year old striker to keep his choice on Chelsea. He really hopes that his client and junior can come to Stamford Bridge.
“I’m still Osimhen’s agent, trying to get him to Chelsea! I got 20 percent of the deal, so I hope it works!” explained the former Chelsea defensive midfielder.
“But he also has a lot of interests. Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United. I’m still pressing, sending him messages, trying to make sure he doesn’t expect too much, narrowing his mind to one club, the Blues. I’m encouraging him, I hope he comes to the club,” he explained.
Now, it is interesting to look forward to Osimhen’s future. Will he really join Chelsea in the summer of 2024?
