Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman may well regret his decision to let Luis Suarez leave the club at the end of 2019/20 season.
Suarez, who became La Liga champion with Atletico Madrid is still disappointed by his departure from Camp Nou, the role of the Dutch manager is not comfortable for him.
“I will always be grateful to Barcelona, but they used me. I had no problem. One is aware when they are no longer useful in a club. Koeman after saying that he did not count on me then told me ‘if tomorrow it is not solved, I will count on you [against Villarreal]’. I saw that he had no personality.” Suarez said.
“To say that I had an influence when in the meetings of the captains I had no idea what they were talking about. At the moment they wanted Messi to stay they called me to convince him, to talk to Griezman. Why didn’t they call me when they wanted me to leave?
“Let them come and explain it to me, or for the coach to come and tell me that he doesn’t count on me because he wants another striker.” Suarez added.
Suarez scored in Atletico’s 2-1 victory over Real Valladolid at the Jose Zorrilla on Saturday to ensure his side lifted the La Liga trophy.
“I’m sure I’ll stay. Atletico welcomed me from the minute I arrived. I asked the club if there was room for me on the museum wall to make history at Atletico.” Suarez said.
“It’s tough. The situation I had to live through, the way I was looked down on, but Atletico opened the door for me.
“A lot of people have suffered with me – my wife, my children. Day by day, they are the ones who have suffered the most from my many years in football.” he added.
