The news about where Luis Suarez will play next season is getting louder as his contract is about to expire with Atletico Madrid. The hottest issue is that the former Barcelona player will move and play in the United States League.
As is known, Suarez’s contract with Los Rojiblancos -Atletico’s nickname – will actually expire on June 30, 2022. However, with current conditions, it is difficult for him to get a contract extension.
This season, the Uruguayan has scored just eight goals in 25 matches in all competitions. That number has decreased, when compared to last year.
Because, as reported by Football Espana, Saturday (8/1/2022), Suarez has started thinking about his next goal. MLS is also the player’s first choice.
Not only that, this desire has been sparked since Suarez left Barcelona. However, these hopes still could not be realized and eventually had to stay at Atletico.
The 34-year-old player actually almost moved to MLS when he was kicked out by Barcelona. Unfortunately, he was late and finally chose to join Atletico in the summer of 2020.
However, because he is no longer young, Atletico have no desire to extend Suarez’s contract. Moreover, the productivity of goals from the player has been shown to have decreased.
Atletico themselves do not seem too worried if they have to lose Suarez. They still have players like Joao Felix, as well as new players that are planned to be redeemed.
