Chelsea’s desire to sign Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku in the 2021 summer transfer market seems to be just a wishful thinking. Because Lukaku has made it clear that he will not leave the team nicknamed the Nerazzuri.
Lukaku, who managed to lead Inter to win the 2020-2021 Italian League, made sure to stay at the Giusseppe Meazza Stadium. Even Lukaku has spoken with the new Inter coach, Simone Inzaghi.
In his conversation with the former Lazio tactician, Lukaku admitted to having a very interesting conversation. One of the things discussed was about Inter’s chances of maintaining the Scudetto in the upcoming 2021-2022 season.
After speaking with Inzaghi, Lukaku was even more determined to stay at Inter. After all, so far the former Manchester United striker feels very happy to be playing for Inter.
“I will stay at Inter. I have been in contact with our new coach, Inzaghi,” said Lukaku, as reported by Talksport, Thursday (3/6/2021).
“Maybe I shouldn’t have said this yet, but the results of our conversation (between Lukaku and Inzaghi) went very positive. There is also the challenge of doing it again (winning the Italian league with Inter). I feel very happy at Inter,” he added.
Of course, Lukaku’s statement that he will stay at Inter is bad news for Chelsea. The reason is that Thomas Tuchel’s squad is eyeing Lukaku to sharpen their front line.
Lukaku is being targeted by Chelsea because there are reports that the Belgian national team player will soon be sold to maintain the financial balance at the London club. Lukaku is also believed to be able to fill the figure of a sharp striker who has not yet been found by Chelsea.
Timo Werner, who just signed in the summer of 2020, was in fact unable to provide the sharp striker Chelsea was looking for. So that’s why Chelsea are looking for a new striker and Lukaku is one of the targets.
However, unfortunately Lukaku chose to stay at Inter. Chelsea seems to have been hit by false hopes from Inter who were reportedly planning to sell Lukaku.
