The match between Real Madrid and Barcelona was completed with a score of 0-4 for the Catalan team to win. How did the two star-studded club coaches respond after the match?
Despite the defeat, Real Madrid is still firmly at the top of the Spanish League standings with 66 points from 29 matches.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti apologized after his team was beaten by Barcelona 0-4 in Week 29 of the Spanish League at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, Madrid. Ancelotti said they must continue their journey in La Liga and focus on working hard in the next two weeks after the international break.
“We are very sorry for the performance, but we have to keep going, focus for the next two weeks and work hard,” said Ancelotti.
The Italian coach explained, Real Madrid must remain calm despite the painful defeat of their eternal rivals and keep their heads high because they are still 9 points clear at the top of the Spanish League standings.
According to him, Real Madrid must maintain a balance and this defeat is believed to be something good for them going forward.
In addition, Ancelotti also said that Los Blancos would return to be defended by two of their mainstay players, namely Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema, who had missed this match due to injury.
“We had time to absorb this defeat, which was very painful, as I said, but we have to stay focused,” said Ancelotti.
Ancelotti admits Barcelona are better than Real Madrid and deserved to win the game, according to him, it is not difficult for him to accept that he did not prepare his team so well.
“Sometimes you do it right, sometimes you don’t. I was wrong in this game, but I’m not going to make big things out of it. It was a big loss for us, we know how important the game against Barcelona is, especially for the fans,” Ancelotti explained.
Meanwhile, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez asked his team to keep working hard and stay humble.
The Spaniard went on to say they would celebrate today’s win and would then rest before thinking about picking up the three points from Sevilla in their next match.
He explained, this victory over Real Madrid was certainly a blow for Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, which is currently still at the top of the Spanish League standings, although Xavi insisted Barcelona will remain focused on securing a place in the Champions League zone.
“I don’t think it will give us enough to win La Liga, it’s very difficult. But today was a great kick in the teeth (for the league leaders),” explained Xavi.
“First (we will focus on staying in) the Champions League places and then we will see. This (win) strengthens the project. We have not reached our target now. We have to continue.”
