Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has stated that he wants team-mate Marcus Rashford to score more goals after finding the net with a spectacular effort in his side’s 4-0 victory over Norwich in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils scored with their first shot on target after 27 minutes. Rashford got his second goals with a penalty after the break.
“I’m pleased for him this year that he is starting to get the goals he deserves, and hopefully he has not stopped yet. He has a few more in the tank from now until the end of the season.” Maguire said.
“He’s a top player with top quality. I can remember one of the first sessions when I went to train with England, he really stood out to me there, his ability on the ball, his technique. He has everything to go and have a career at the highest level.” Maguire added.
United have won back-to-back games against Tottenham and Manchester City. They’ve got another big game next week at home against Wolves in the FA Cup.
“Our problem has been inconsistency. We have played two good games and one bad game, and it has not been good enough in terms of that.” Maguire said.
“We are not getting carried away. It was a good performance against Norwich, clean sheet, win, but we have to go again. If we put a few wins together on the bounce, we will have every chance of finishing in the top four.” the 26-year-old added.
Maguire suffered an injury during the weekend’s Emirates FA Cup third-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. He doughtily struggles on the treatment table following a hip injury and wore the captain’s armband with proper authority.
“I had a problem with my hip muscle, but it was only a small muscle, and I normally recover quick and can play with a bit of pain. I’m alright now and got through the game unscathed. So, now I feel good and ready to go again.” Maguire said.
