Chelsea won 2-1 over Club America in a test match at the Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, Sunday (17/7).
Despite the status of a test match, the Chelsea vs Club America duel began with a hard duel between players and even referee Kevin Broadley had to issue a yellow card from his pocket.
Chelsea tries to play high-pressing football. Club America was forced to play in its own territory. The game with a high defensive line could be penetrated by Club America, but Chelsea defenders were able to clear the ball as well as reduce the threat.
Club America then also turned on the high pressing option when Chelsea tried to play the ball from behind.
Both teams played matches like competitive matches, but there were no goals until the first half ended.
Thomas Tuchel made a full substitution towards the start of the second half.
Entering the 55th minute, Chelsea made a simple attack. The ball from the center corridor is pushed diagonally into the penalty box. The ball received was directed to Timo Werner in front of the goal.
The German striker fired a shot that could still be blocked. The ball bounced back towards Werner and on the second occasion Werner didn’t waste a chance. Chelsea lead 1-0.
Three minutes later Mitchy Batshuayi had a chance to increase Chelsea’s advantage. The ball that Batshuayi released can still be saved by the goalkeeper
Precisely in the 60th minute Chelsea conceded. The score became even after Reece James attempted a backpass, but goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli could not catch the ball which was aimed at the far post so the ball rolled into the Blues goal.
After the goal Club America made six substitutions simultaneously.
The game was open. Chelsea and America both have the opportunity to add goals. But it is not easy to change the numbers on the scoreboard.
Only in the 83rd minute Chelsea back ahead. Mason Mount’s accurate strike made the ball nest in the America goal which was escorted by Oscar Jimenez.
No more goals were created until the long whistle sounded. The score 2-1 became the final result of this pre-season match.
