Malcom Officially Chose Barcelona over Roma

Malcom finally chose Barcelona despite scheduled medical tests with AS Roma. The Brazilian winger admitted Blaugrana is his idol club since childhood.

The Guardian reported Barcelona successfully steal Malcom from Bordeaux with a price tag worth €41 million. Though the player almost made an agreement with Roma.

Roma even had time to announce a deal with Malcom through their official website and Twitter account. However, Barcelona managed to steal the 21-year-old attacker in the last minute.

“FC Barcelona and Girondins de Bordeaux have reached an agreement to transfer Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira, which will cost 41 million euors and 1 million in variables,” Barcelona wrote on its official website.

Unmitigated, Malcom signed a five-year contract at Camp Nou or tied cooperation in Barcelona until 2022/23. He is scheduled to undergo medical tests on Wednesday (25/7).

“This is a unique situation, not just once, but twice.” Being a Barcelona player can not be described with words how to describe being able to join the world’s best team,” Malcom said.

“This is a childhood dream come true, I hope to be able to give a lot of excitement to the fans I can not wait to get started, I’m here to help my teammates in my own style of play.”

He also stated that he is very eager to immediately join the other Barcelona players. He is said to be immediately following the Barcelona squad who had just left for the United States to undergo a pre-season tour.

“I am eager to meet my teammates and talk to them and I am very excited and eager to start training with them immediately,” he continued.

Malcom started his career with Brazilian club Corinthians and contributed to the club’s 2015 Brazil League title. A year later he received a proposal for a Ligue 1 Bordeaux club.

With collection of 23 goals and 16 assists from a total of 96 matches in Bordeaux make European elite clubs attracted to brought him. However, Barcelona were the one who managed to bring Malcom at the end.

European and Brazilian media say Malcom is a mix of Willian and Neymar skills. Malcom’s star status was achieved in just two seasons of his career in Bordeaux. In his first season he made seven goals and four assists.

Accordint to Whoscored, Malcom eloquently plays as left attacking midfield, right, and also middle. Malcom talent is what will become a new secret weapon for Barcelona next season after last season “just” rely on Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

From the offensive side, Malcom made a 2.1 shot per game, 2.5 key bait, 2.7 dribble, and 2.6 times tackle by opponent. For the latter, we can see how dangerous Malcom on the wide side of the field. But Malcom weakness commonly experienced by many young players is that he often lose the ball. The average total is 1.9 per game and the average of poor control reaches 2.1 matches. However, if Barcelona are eager to hunt Malcom means they know the amazing will that buried in the player. Though the Blaugrana also still have Ousmane Dembele who plays the same and bought at a price of 106 million euros last season or nearly triple of Malcom’s price.

Now Dembele (and Paco Alcacer) should be wary because it is not impossible Malcom will be given direct confidence to fill Barca attack line with Suarez and Messi. Now only time will answer what kind of achievement Malcom later.
