Manchester City won 4-0 over Southampton in the 10th week of the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (8/10).
Man City striker Erling Haaland got the first chance to score in the 14th minute. Haaland’s first-time shot from Phil Foden’s pass crossed the Southampton keeper but the ball hit the post.
Man City managed to open the scoring in the 20th minute. Joao Cancelo’s individual action past a Southampton player ended with a powerful shot that rattled Gavin Bazunu’s goal.
Twelve minutes later, Man City managed to increase the advantage to 2-0. Phil Foden broke into Southampton’s goal through a gouge kick that outwit Bazunu.
Man City continues to exert pressure to increase the score. However, until the first half after the score was 2-0 for the superiority of Pep Guardiola’s squad, there was no change.
Man City managed to increase the advantage to 3-0 just four minutes after the second half began. Rodri’s measured pass was met by Riyad Mahrez’s volley which was lodged in the Southampton goal.
The Citizens increased the advantage to 4-0 in the 66th minute. Haaland’s first time shot in the penalty box after receiving Joao Cancelo’s pass shook Bazunu’s goal.
Southampton just got a chance to open fire in the 83rd minute. Romain Perraud’s speculative shot was still not dangerous to Ederson’s goal.
In the remaining time of the match Man City had several opportunities to increase their advantage, including from young players Cole Palmer. But his shot can still be anticipated by Bazunu. The 4-0 score lasted until the second half ended.
