Manchester City reported to sign AS Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy with a 45.7 million euros. City’s manager Pep Guardiola has designed Mendy as a priority for this summer transfer. And the French international would be close to joining with his team-mate Bernardo Silva at the Etihad next season.
It is a great opportunity for Mendy, who would hold in one of the most powerful clubs in Europe recently, but also for Monaco. With one goal and 8 assists in all competitions, he has been impressed for Monaco this season after arriving from Marseille a year ago.
Bernardo Silva, new Manchester City signing told that he would be happy if his former team-mate Benjamin Mendy to join him at Etihad next season.
“Benjamin is a friend,” Silva told media. “If he can play with me, I’d rather see him in my team than against me. Especially as he is left-back and I am at attacking midfielder.” he added.
Silva just arrived at Manchester City, and he is going to complete his 50 million euros when the summer transfer window opens on July 1. He has been sensational for Monaco last summer with 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
“Monaco is not Real Madrid or Barcelona, it’s a different situation,” Silva told. “And with the season we had, it’s normal that a lot of clubs are interested in Monaco players. If clubs make offers of 50-60 million, I think the club can’t refuse. It’s for that reason I think one or two more players are going to leave.” he added.
Pep Guardiola had a complicated season with Manchester City. With his first season, he admitted the English Premier League was different compared to La Liga or Bundesliga when he managed the Blaugrana and Bayern Munich couple years ago.

However, Manchester City big boss Khaldoon Al Mubarak told recent days of the club’s intention to sign several of the best and young talented players over the next two months. He hopes that Guardiola will change the club form in next season.
