Manchester City are likely to break their transfer record in the summer. They will pour large amounts of money to bring in Rodri Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.
It is common knowledge that City are looking for a new defensive midfielder. They are looking for someone who can be a long-term replacement for Fernandinho in their midfield.
One of the names rumored to be City’s transfer target is Rodri Hernandez. The Citizens are reported to have sent their talent guides several times to observe the midfielder in the Los Rojiblancos midfield.
Reported by The Telegraph, City was really serious about bringing Rodri. They are even ready to break their transfer record to bring in the midfielder.
According to the report, Manchester City will bring in Rodri by redeeming the midfielder’s release clause.
This step was taken after Atletico Madrid refused to sell the player. As a result Manchester City had to pay around 61 million pounds to bring in the midfielder.
If this transfer occurs, then Manchester City’s transfer record will break. At the moment their most expensive purchase record is when they bought Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City at a price of 60 million pounds last summer.
The report also claims that Manchester City is also preparing other options in the summer. They fear that Atletico Madrid will complicate the player’s transfer so they look for other alternatives.
According to the report, the alternative player was Tanguy Ndombele. The midfielder does appear prominently in Lyon’s midfield this season.
Ndombele also has a release clause of around 60 million pounds so they are optimistic they can get the player’s signature.
