The Argentina ‘Goal Machine’ is about to chase history of the club. Sergio Aguero was hailed as ‘Legend’ by the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
29-year-old Sergio Aguero aced out the hat-trick in the first half of his Sixth Premier League. Manchester City won by 6-0 goals on Saturday. He completed 175 goals in match against Watford since joining City in 2011.
The striker is two goals away from chasing the clubs highest score of 177, since 1939 by Eric Brook.
“Hopefully that [the record] will happen very soon, and we can have a big celebration,” said Guardiola.
Aguero is about to change Manchester City Club history as he has scored 175 goals in 259 appearances. While Ex-England winger Brook scored all time record goals for city in 494 games during 1928-1940 at City.
Guardiola added: “He’s a legend, and it’s a part of history in the club. Aguero’s numbers speak for themselves – he is amazing.”
The Vicarage Road hat-trick of Aguero placed him above Robbie Kean and Nicolas Anelka with 127 goals in Premier League. Also, on competition all time list he is on the same level with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Aguero was able to score five in five games of this season, while 20 plus goals in the last six seasons. He scored highest number of 26 goals, during 2014-2015 compaign. He was challenge to score 30 in this season by Alan Shearer, who has scored 260 in 441 games in the Premier League.
In 2013-2014 season, Luis Suarez Ex-Liverpool Striker was able to score 30 goals. Premier League score board was aced by Tottenham striker, Harry Kane. He scored 29 and 25 goals in the last two seasons.
Former England striker and Premier League top goalscorer Alan Shearer said, “Watford could not get near Aguero. It was a top performance. For a centre-forward to play in this City team must be an absolute dream, with the chances created and the pace going forward.”
“I think you are looking for Aguero to get 30 league goals this year.”
“Aguero does two things really well. When he goes short, he takes a defender into an area he’s not comfortable with,” Former England defender Phil Neville added, “But when he runs in behind it’s very difficult because he’s so small with a low centre of gravity.”
