Depending champions Manchester City will face Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium on July 18 after beating New Castle in the quarter-finals.
The Sky Blues will also have to play Real Madrid at Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
Speaking at his a press conference, City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that his team want to win both competitions despite the deadly global outbreak of the Covid-19.
“Of course it’s… we have spoken about this. We have four incredible weeks ahead of us that will never come back, will come back, but in a different way.” Guardiola said.
“This chance that we have in the FA Cup to get to the final and Madrid second leg and keep going in this competition is the time that we have in our hands, these four weeks and it depends on us and so today the game we play.
“Southampton we create more chances, so the game we want is there. I don’t have doubts about the way we play. So the team is incredible, the guys, but this game is about winning and that’s all.” Guardiola added.
When asked about City’s defeat to Southampton, Guardiola said he was struggling to understand why his team scores so many goals and limits the opposition to so few chances but has still lost nine Premier League matches this season.
“We’re leading in goals. We create a lot of chances. We’re a team who concede less, no team conceded as few chances as us but we lost a lot of games.” Guardiola said.
“It’s difficult even for me to find a reason why but you have to insist and talk about the game, the way they play and try to do more, concede as few as possible and score up front.” the Spaniard added.
