Manchester United are set to splash the cash this summer as according to Sky Sports reporter James Cooper. It is being revealed that Manchester United are expected to be quiet on deadline day despite having sold Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay to Everton and Lyon for nearly £50million this month.
Jose Mourinho spent around £150m in the summer on Paul Pogba, Henrik Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And while United may not be busy tomorrow, aside from midfielder Ashley Young potentially leaving, they are gearing up for another big summer. Speaking outside United’s Carrington training ground, Cooper said on Sky Sports: “In terms of incomings, Manchester United will wait for the summer.
Cooper further added, “They’ve got some big names on their transfer check-list, if you like. “Not big names they can bring in the winter but they’ve not got a big tradition of doing that in the past 10 years. “The summer will be interesting business for United and United fans.
“Jose Mourinho is very happy with the numbers he’s dealing with on the training field.
“He’s let a couple go in Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin. I don’t think he’ll be bringing anyone in tomorrow. “It’ll be interesting to see if Ashley Young situation sees move on. He’s currently training with United and he’s clearly someone who is well-liked in the dressing room.”
Jose Mourinho even went ahead and confirmed the Manchester United transfer news where he has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will remain at Manchester United for the rest of the season. In addition to Rooney even Ashley Young is also staying put despite deadline day interest from China and Premier League clubs.
But it is the news that England star Rooney will not be allowed to leave the club that is most significant. The 31-year-old striker is expected to end his Manchester United career sooner rather than later – with a summer departure now looking likely.
And a big-money offer from China may still be too good to refuse with figures of up to £1million a week being bandied around. Jose Mourinho, however, will not let him leave in the current Chinese transfer window – open until the end of February. “Yes,” said Mourinho when asked if Rooney will see out the season at Old Trafford. “We don’t have players in, we don’t have players out, we lost two players from the squad.
