Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth on Sunday at the Vitality Stadium in the matchday 11 of Premier League fixture. Thanks to Josh King’s incredible goal in the 45th minute.
Speaking in his press conference, United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that the Red Devils had a tough game against the hosts.
“They got the first goal. A moment of magic, I must say, through Josh. We just couldn’t find the quality that we needed today to break through a stubborn Bournemouth team.” Solskjaer said.
“They defended really well but we couldn’t capitalise on our decent start. I felt we created openings and got down or right-hand side but couldn’t get the finishing touch.
“When you don’t score you aren’t going to win a game of football. Today, their keeper had some decent saves, we had some strikes off the target, hit the post but most of it outside the box we couldn’t carve them open and get the big chances we hoped for.” Solskjaer added.
Solsksjaer’s side has won just three of nine games away from Old Trafford in the Premier League. Their away form in the league includes draws against Wolves and Southampton and losses to Newcastle United and Bournemouth.
“Get a reaction built up. We’ve had a nice couple of weeks with some decent results and performances and you get one of these you need to bounce back and react.” Solskjaer said.
“Thursday night is a chance for us to go through in Europe if we win that one so we will focus on that one.” the Norwegian manager added.
When asked about Josh who left United in 2013, Solskjaer heaped praise on the 27-year-old striker and believes the player was tipped for a bright future at Bournemouth.
“He’s always a threat, he’s strong and when you win the game with a moment of magic like that you say ‘well done’. He’s developed into a very good player.” Solskjaer said.
With the loss dropped United to 10th in the standings, and they remain seven points behind Leicester City and Chelsea.
