Jack Butland confirmed to be a new Manchester United player. The player who plays as a goalkeeper was brought in on loan, which means he will be a substitute player for David De Gea.
The news of Butland’s recruitment was announced on the official Manchester United website, Friday (6/12/2023). The 29-year-old goalkeeper is on loan from Crystal Palace.
“Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Jack Butland has joined the club on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the 2022/23 season,” read a statement on Manchester United’s official statement, Friday (6/1/2023).
That way, Butland will be a back-up keeper if David de Gea is unable to play. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has played 87 matches in the Premier League with Crystal Palace and has made nine appearances for the England national team.
After joining, Butland said he was proud to be in the uniform of the Red Devils -Manchester United’s nickname. Not only that, he is also looking forward to training with several other Manchester United goalkeepers.
“This is an amazing club and now I am proud to represent it. I’m really looking forward to working with an amazing group of goalkeepers, supporting each other every day to create the best playing and training environment for the team,” said Butland.
“I’ve played against David de Gea and represented England with Tom Heaton; they are top rangers, and I enjoy the opportunity to compete alongside and support them as a team-mate,” he added. “There is a lot for this group to achieve this season and I am excited to play my part in helping everyone achieve this ambition,” he continued.
Meanwhile, John Murtough, director of football for Manchester United said Butland was the right person to be recruited by his team. He also hopes that these players can make a positive contribution.
“Jack is an extraordinary goalkeeper with great experience throughout his career. His mentality and personality will be a real asset to our incredible group of goalkeepers and the whole squad,” said Murtough.
