Manchester United legend Roy Keane was allegedly hit by a fan after the match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Roy Keane, who now works as an English football pundit, was there with his partner, Micah Richards, who is a former Manchester City defender.
According to news from Goal International, the incident started when Keane and Richards walked into the Emirates Stadium to carry out analysis after the match. However, the two pundits got involved in an argument with a supporter.
When passing through the west stand and wanting to go to the elevator, Keane was suddenly blocked and then ‘headed’ by the unscrupulous supporter. The header then hit the former Manchester United midfielder’s chin and chest.
Fortunately, Richards saved Keane from the unscrupulous actions of the Arsenal supporters. The person was then taken away by the security forces. Keane and Richards also continued their journey right after Alejandro Garnacho’s goal was disallowed for offside.
“Security guards and (Micah) Richards intervened, and the former City player was seen holding the man by the scruff of the neck, before the supporter was finally taken away,” wrote the Goal International report, quoted on Monday (4/9/2023).
The game itself ended in a 3-1 win for Arsenal. The goals in that match came in the first half and in second half injury time.
The Red Devils – Manchester United’s nickname – took the lead first through Marcus Rashford’s hard kick (27′), which was then responded to by Martin Odegaard (28′). Continuing in the next round, the two teams played super tight with the Gunners -the nickname Arsenal – dominating.
Manchester United had thought they had won the game through Alejandro Garnacho’s late goal, but the referee ruled it out. The home team then clinched a dramatic win through goals scored by Declan Rice (90+6′) and Gabriel Jesus (90+11′).
