Manchester United lost 0-2 to Newcastle in the 19th week of the 2024/2025 Premier League at Old Trafford Stadium, Monday (30/12/2024).
Man United appeared chaotic in the first half. However, after changing tactics in the middle of the game, their performance improved even though they had difficulty creating opportunities in Newcastle’s defense.
Newcastle’s goals were scored by Alexander Isak and Joelinton. Newcastle now has 32 points from 19 matches.
The Magpies rose to fifth place in the 2024/2025 Premier League standings. Meanwhile, Man United slumped to 14th position with 22 points.
Manchester United and Newcastle immediately played aggressively in this match. They both tried to attack.
However, Newcastle was able to score first in the fourth minute. Alexander Isak broke through Onana’s goal with a header from close range, welcoming Lewis Hall’s cross from the left, which had hit Mazraoui’s thigh first. VAR checked the validity of this goal and finally the goal was declared clean. 0-1.
After scoring a goal, Newcastle appeared even more fierce. They dominated the match and their attacks looked promising, while Man United had difficulty building attacks on The Magpies’ defense.

Man United’s performance then improved slightly. However, they still had difficulty creating opportunities in Newcastle’s defense.
In the 45+2 minute, Casemiro got a golden opportunity, after receiving a pass from Mainoo. He kicked the ball freely in the penalty box but the ball he directed to the left side of the goal went too wide.

In the second half, the duel was immediately tight. Newcastle could not dominate Manchester United again like in the first half.
