Jose Mourinho has added Paul Pogba to a list of players Manchester United can sell this summer, reports claim. Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho has hit a new low after the United boss substituted the Frenchman during the defeat to West Brom on Sunday. That loss crowned Manchester City Premier League champions and it is not the first time Mourinho has lost faith in Pogba this season. The midfielder has repeatedly been dropped by Mourinho and the United boss believes it is time for Unite to cut their losses. The Daily Mail claim Mourinho wants to sell Pogba, although there is set to resistance from the United board. Ed Woodward will not want to sell a player United paid a club record transfer fee of £89million to sign just two years ago.
Despite fanfare over Pogba’s return to the club he began his career at, the 25-year-old has struggled to fit into Mourinho’s system and follow his manager’s instructions. Pogba inspired a stunning comeback from 2-0 down in the Manchester derby just over a week ago, but followed that performance up with a dismal display against West Brom. Mourinho has been enraged by Pogba’s drastic lack of consistency and hit out at him and other United players for their lack of mentality after the loss to the Baggies.
Pogba and his team-mates were labeled ‘masters of complication’ and accused of being more interested in showing off than winning the game. ‘We were masters in complication, everything was complicated,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘We didn’t want or played simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn. There was no fluidity. ‘In the first-half I felt I had to bring one player with more dynamic and a player that runs more and has more touches of the ball. ‘I had to make a decision one midfield player out to bring in Jesse Lingard and then after that I wanted more width. ‘Paul had a yellow card and before that he had a situation not for a second yellow but you never know in football, so I reacted to that. ‘Paul’s game was complicated like many others, always one more touch.’
