Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez made history after going up to the podium together at the 2024 German MotoGP, Sunday (7/7).
Marc and Alex broke a record that hadn’t been achieved by two brothers since Nubuatsu and Takuma Aoki did it in 1997.
Marquez once again performed extraordinary. Starting from 13th position, the Gresini racer showed good performance throughout the 30 laps until he finished in second place. Marquez overtook his younger brother and Gresini teammate, Alex, in the last two laps to finish in second place.
The two of them immediately high-fived after crossing the finish line at the German MotoGP. Marc and Alex Marquez then hugged when they arrived under the podium of the German MotoGP champion.
The celebration continued on the podium with Marc Marquez being caught kissing his younger brother on the cheek.
Marquez felt an extraordinary feeling because he could share the podium with his sibling.
“It feels amazing to be able to share the podium with my brother. This is the first time in our careers, so this is a day I will never forget,” said Marquez.
“Today I woke up and felt better. My body condition is improving, so that’s very important. I told the team that I feel better, so I will be very aggressive on the motorbike,” said Marquez.
“We did an incredible job. It’s true that overall it wasn’t a good weekend because a lot of things happened in our garage, plus my mistake at turn 11. It was a very difficult weekend. But in the end second place and a share of the podium “For the Gresini team this is a very good result,” Marquez added.
Alex Marquez is also happy to have the opportunity to make history by sharing the podium with Marc Marquez.
“It’s amazing, honestly I dreamed that this day would come,” said Alex Marquez.
“This year is a very good opportunity to do this together. It would be better if it was first and second. But I am very happy that we deserve a fun holiday. This will be a fun party,” added Alex Marquez.
