Marc Marquez managed to end “the curse” at MotoGP Mandalika 2024 after winning the third podium in the Sprint Race session of MotoGP Mandalika Pertamina Grand Prix, Saturday (28/9/2024).
The Gresini Racing racer previously had a bad record while racing at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, Indonesia. Marquez has always had bad luck in the previous two editions.
In the first edition of MotoGP Mandalika two years ago, 2022, Marc Marquez had an accident in the warm-up session. That was what made Marc Marquez fail to take part in the race.
While in last year’s edition, Marc Marquez also had an accident. Marc Marquez failed to get points because of an accident in the sprint race session and also the Sunday race.
This time at MotoGP Mandalika 2024, Marc Marquez came in better condition. Marquez is currently back on a positive trend with the Ducati motorbike.
Marquez’s bad record in Indonesia was also gone after finishing third in the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP Sprint Race.
Marquez achieved the third podium in an extraordinary way because starting from 12th position, The Baby Alien managed to finish in third position.
After the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP Sprint Race, Marquez admitted that he was satisfied with the results.
“From P12 to P3! A bitter Saturday, a good Sprint Race but we need to find a better feeling with the new tires to improve our QP. We will continue to work!” wrote Marquez after the Mandalika MotoGP Sprint Race quoted from his personal Instagram on.
The first place of Mandalika MotoGP 2024 was won by Francesco Bagnaia followed by his Ducati Lenovo teammate, Enea Bastianini, who followed in second place.
This result made Marquez remain in fourth place in the standings with 288 points. The Spanish rider is only three points behind Bastianini who is perched in third place.
Meanwhile, the top of the 2024 MotoGP standings is still taken by Jorge Martin even though he only finished 10th. Martin still has 341 points but is only 12 points away from Bagnaia who is stalking in second place.
