By taking a double podium in Barcelona and temporarily placing both riders in the top four of the MotoGP table standings, Honda could certainly be happy to have a very good Catalan rendezvous.
However, there were still a few flaws to add and the first of them is certainly the fact that for two weeks it is the Ducati, who led the race. It is thus an opponent more that appears just when the sworn of Iwata seemed to encounter serious difficulties with its livery 2017.
Luckily for Marquez, Michelin had brought a symmetrical front for this test and saw the time passed with this tyre by the reigning world champion. Following his second placed finish at Catalan Circuit on last Sunday, Marquez enjoyed his one day testing session at the same circuit.
“Today’s test was pretty good, although we did not particularly test anything new on the bike.” Marquez told media. “We did a lot of laps to work on the electronics and my driving style to better manage the tires.” he added.
Marquez topped the timesheets of the test session that saw 18 rider taking part. He set his best time on his penultimate lap to finish more than three tenths faster than current championship leader, Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales.
“What finally made me very happy is the symmetrical front tyre brought here by Michelin, which is the same or almost as last year.” Marquez told.
“I felt immediately again on the bike and with the front. In fact, I managed my best lap with this tyre because it was more stable. I smiled again, at least on this track. Hopefully we can continue on that track with the tires.” the Spaniard added.
On the other hand, Dani Pedrosa finally found his race style. It must be said that he had not been so well placed in the championship for long time. But beyond his points in the overall standings, it is the envy that seems to have returned and is obviously excellent results.

“Today was important day as we tried a different fork and conducted a lot of comparison tests.” Pedrosa told media. “We also tried a few things on the set-up and we worked on the geometry of the bike. The track was not the best conditions because the temperature was very high and the tires were losing their performance fast enough, but now we have more information to work on.” he added.
Movistar Yamaha rider Mavrick Vinales currently leads the MotoGP table standings with 111 points, just seven points ahead of Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso after Catalunya Grand Prix round.
