Marc Marquez, True Definition of MotoGP Aliens

Marc Marquez, True Definition of MotoGP Aliens

Insisting on appearing at the Andalusia 2020 MotoGP race at the Jerez Circuit made Marc Marquez confirm the nickname of The Baby Alien which was owned by the 27-year racer.

The Baby Alien is a nickname given to the media at the beginning of his career in the MotoGP class. The nickname began to emerge after Marquez won two consecutive MotoGP world titles in 2013 and 2014 at the age of only 21 years 237 days.

Nickname racers as aliens might be too much. But what Marquez has done in the last few seasons in MotoGP has never been shown by other drivers.

Starting from dominating the podium and winning, taking risks during races and qualifications, to rescue from accidents that are considered impossible to do.

The nickname The Baby Alien increasingly looks right for Marquez in MotoGP 2020, even seen when the new season goes one series. The first reason is because Marquez appeared extraordinary in the Spanish MotoGP 2020 despite failing to finish at the Jerez Circuit last weekend.

“How can he save the incident, he is really not human,” said MotoGP commentator Steve Day when he saw the rescue of Marquez who almost fell on the fifth lap of Spain’s 2020 MotoGP.

After making a mistake on the fifth lap, Marquez showed an extraordinary performance that had never been done by other drivers in MotoGP before. After being scattered to the last position, Marquez easily passed dozens of drivers to be in third position when the race leaves five laps.

“Marquez did something that even Valentino Rossi never did with Honda in MotoGP,” said Italian MotoGP observer Carlo Pernat.

Unfortunately, Marquez failed to finish in the Spanish MotoGP 2020. A great accident at the turn four when the last four laps made Marquez not only have to fail to finish, but also suffered of the right arm fracture.

Marquez’s operation must be carried out in Barcelona on Tuesday (7/21), and not Marquez’s name if he is not reckless. Two days after the operation Marquez returned to the Jerez Circuit, underwent medical tests, and was declared fit to perform at the Andalusia 2020 MotoGP by the MotoGP medical team.

Jorge Lorenzo had indeed done the same thing at the 2013 Dutch MotoGP. However, what Marquez did was far more dangerous than Lorenzo.

Lorenzo underwent a 2013 Dutch MotoGP race 35 hours after undergoing collarbone surgery obtained in the first free practice. However, Marquez’s injury is far more dangerous than Lorenzo’s. That condition was even recognized by Lorenzo himself.

“I assume Marquez is taking a greater risk, because if he has an accident again it could be a worse consequence than mine, because an arm injury is more complicated than a collar. That’s something more serious,” Lorenzo said.

Moreover, Marquez has not fully recovered from the right shoulder operation that was undertaken at the end of 2019. Thus, another accident during the 2020 Andalusia MotoGP could make Marquez’s season trip end faster.

However, Marquez is not his name if he is not reckless and takes risks. Marquez has often made surprises that we previously thought were impossible, even to the point of making MotoGP boring.

If he can perform in the 2020 Andalusia MotoGP race, win the podium, or even win, Marquez really deserves to be called an alien.
