Marcelo Believes Real Madrid Will Come Back Stronger Next Season

Real Madrid ended their 2018/19 season badly. Zinedine Zidane’s side is only able to sit in third place in the La Liga final standings this season.

Marcelo believes Madrid will be better next season, the team will come back stronger next season despite they had one bad season.

“I am certain we can get back to our best. Real Madrid never gives up, we will fight for everything. We have won everything over recent years and one bad season does not take away from what Real Madrid is. The work starts now.” Marcelo said.

“We need to share the blame. We started badly and ended badly. We didn’t want the season to be like this, we want to fight for every title. This was a hard season, for me it was hard personally.

“We tried everything we could to make the fans happy, that was not possible. Next season starts here, we need to look at what went wrong so we don’t make the same mistakes.” Marcelo added.

In their final La Liga match, Madrid ended their poor season with a disappointing 2-0 loss against Real Betis at home on Sunday. They only earned 68 points in La Liga standings, the lowest point earned by the Whites since 2001/02.

Madrid also exited the Champions League at the last-16 stage with defeat to Ajax and were beaten by Barcelona rivals in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.

“When you win everything is easier. Whistles are a way to try to motivate us. If i let my head go down every time I heard a whistle, I would not be who I am.” Marcelo said.

“It’s a way to motivate myself and improve what I’m not doing. We must try to change and reverse the situation. One day they whistle and the next they applaud you.” he added.

When asked about Keylor Navas’ move on from Santiago Bernabeu this summer, the Brazilian defender said it’s normal for football players around the world.

“Players come and go. Some have made history and continue to make history, but it didn’t sound like a goodbye to me, just as a farewell to a very tough season. Keylor has a contract and that will be resolved.” Marcelo said.
