The Guardian reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Marcus Rashford may want to leave Manchester United due to his lack of game time at Old Trafford.
The England striker expressed concern about not being able to play regularly under his interim manager Ralf Rangnick. Rashford also lost his place to the young striker Anthony Elanga.
Rashford has only had 2 more starts in the team’s next 11 matches in the Premier League since he played 90 minutes in United’s draw against Newcastle.
“Marcus Rashford is considering his future. He’s concerned about his lack of game time, source close to Man Utd forward tell me – he’s always been professional but he wants clarity. His current Manchester United deal runs out in June 2023.” Romano posted on his social media account.
On Sunday 1-4 defeat against Manchester City, Rashford was only brought on from the bench in the second half.
In other area in 2022, Rashford started in the first leg of the 1/8 round of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid, and 2 matches with Aston Villa and Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
A source close to Rashford revealed that he is still very disappointed that he has not been able to play more in the Premier League. He must have missed the first 2 months of the season because of surgery to completely treat a shoulder injury.
“He is frustrated at not playing more. He missed the opening two months of the season because of a shoulder operation.” Romano said.
“Rangnick will remain in interim charge only until the end of the season and Rashford must weigh up whether he thinks the picture will improve for him under the next manager.” he added.
Rashford has only scored 5 goals and 2 assists on all fronts, in which, he was “down” from the end of October 2021 to mid-January 2022.
The 24-year-old’s current contract does expire next summer, but the club does have the option to trigger a one-year extension.
