Marcus Rashford has agreed a new long-term contract with Manchester United, sources have told ESPN.
The England striker has reached a verbal agreement with the club over a new five-year contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2028.
Negotiations with Rashford are in their final stages before a formal announcement is made.
Rashford is the latest United player to commit his future after Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot agreed new contracts earlier this year.
The Rashford deal is a boost for coach Erik ten Hag as he prepares for a pre-season tour of the US.
The Red Devils face French club Lyon in Scotland on Wednesday before flying to New York.
They will face Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday.
Rashford was a key part of the Ten Hag squad last term, scoring 30 goals in all competitions.
He scored 123 goals in all competitions, 30 of them in the 2022-23 campaign, helping the club to a third-placed finish.
“I joined Manchester United when I was a seven-year-old boy with one dream. The same desire, pride and passion to succeed still drives me every time I am given the opportunity to pull on the shirt,” the 25-year-old told the club’s website.
“I have had some amazing experiences at this club, but there is still a lot to achieve and I am determined to win more trophies in the coming year.
“I can assure you I will do whatever it takes to help the team rise to our best level and I feel the same determination in the dressing room. I am more than excited about our future under this manager.”
In the 2022-23 season, Rashford won the club’s Player of the Year award and the players’ Player of the Year.
“Since he joined our academy 18 years ago, Marcus has been the epitome of what it takes to succeed as a Manchester United player,” said the club’s director of football John Murtough.
“He is not only talented but also humble, dedicated and passionate.
“As he enters his prime, we realize there is much more he can contribute and we can see Marcus’ passion to achieve the highest level of success at Manchester United.” – Reuters
There has been interest in the Paris Saint-Germain player but the striker has decided to extend his stay at the club during his childhood.
Ten Hag are still looking for ways to improve their attack this summer with the arrival of the No. 9 new.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen have so far proved overvalued and the recruitment department has turned to Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojland and Randal Kolo Muani at Eintracht Frankfurt.
As sources have told ESPN, Atalanta’s assessment of Hojland, who scored 10 goals in 34 games last season, is a hurdle in negotiations if other targets are considered.
United are open to listening to an attractive bid for Anthony Martial, although sources have told ESPN they are yet to receive a formal approach for the Frenchman.
Martial, who has one year remaining on his contract, scored nine goals last season but has struggled with injury.
