Tennis News: Croatian national Marin Cilic has stated that the world of men’s tennis will get stronger when the suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have won the last 13 Grand Slams. This is evidence that senior tennis players continue to dominate the world of men’s tennis.

Cilic had broken the dominance by winning the 2014 US Open (defeating Kei Nishikori). He also made it to the 2017 Wimbledon final (losing to Federer) and the 2018 Australian Open (losing to Federer).

Cilic believes that young players like Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev will be getting closer to creating a buzz, especially at the Grand Slam.

“The world of tennis has developed a lot in the last 12-18 months. The combination of the younger generation, they are now more mature,” said Cilic.

“At the moment, there are at least 10 promising men’s players, really strong and they show their strength and potential in big tournaments. And the older generation of tennis players are also just as strong.”

“I believe that the tennis world today is very strong. I believe this competition has returned to the situation when we were in the period 2008 – 2010, when we had so many big names in this sport.”

However Cilic himself has shown that he still has potential after this season he successfully advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

“I always believe that there is still a place for me at the top of the tennis world in the next few seasons – ranked in the top 10 or 15 and I believe I can be in that position – and you have to work hard to get it,” said Cilic who inhabits the ranking highest in his career to date, ranked 3rd in the world in 2018 season.

We know in advance that Marin Cilic Wants US Open Attended by Fans.

Marin Cilic hopes that this year’s US Open will not be held without the presence of fans.

The US Open is currently scheduled to be held according to plan although it is almost certain that the Grand Slam will be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

One possible solution is to hold the tournament as planned but it doesn’t allow fans to watch it in the stadium and Croatian tennis player Cilic disagrees with the solution.

“I felt that if it was done, it felt like I was doing a training match. I don’t think that’s the best scenario,” said Cilic who won the 2014 US Open after defeating Kei Nishikori.
