Highly promising young player Marko Grujic was scouted by many of Europe’s top clubs, including Juventus, Milan and Chelsea before deciding to join Liverpool in 2016.

The Serbian midfielder, who joined Liverpool for £5.1m from Red Star Belgrade in 2016, has made just 14 appearances for the first team since then, with loans to Red Star and Cardiff City as well as Hertha Berlin.

Although the Reds have announced that Grujic is set to return to Hertha for another loan spell, the 23-year-old midfielder hope will be future key players of the current Premier League leaders.

“It’s not easy to become a part of the Liverpool squad, I can see myself in the red shirt but I have to become more experienced before I can wear it again,” Grujic said.

“I want to improve my physical performance and take my concentration to another level. I want to be ready for Liverpool so I will have a chance to get into the team.” Grujic added.

Grujic made 23 appearances for Hertha last season, scoring five goals, and was described as by far the best midfielder in Europe. This makes Klopp believes that the midfielder can become a first-team player in the 2020/21 campaign.

“He said that it would be a great opportunity for me to improve my development. The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in the world and Hertha Berlin is a big club. It is very important for me to play regularly right now and [Klopp] told me to fight for my place in the team.” Grujic said.

“Klopp and I are texting regularly. I am also in close contact with the Liverpool loan-manager [Julian Ward], he watches every game that I’m in and we’re texting afterwards. Also I am very close to Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino, but all of the players from Liverpool are great.” he added.

This season Grujic has scored 2 goals and has also noted 0 assists in 8 appearances for Hertha.
