Manchester United lost the first Manchester derby of the season. The Red Devils, who conceded one goal before the break, reacted at the beginning of the second half but didn’t put away the chances they had to draw level.
Manchester City beat United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the final Premier League game before the international break, the Citizens are only two points clear at the top but it’s becoming increasingly hard to make a case for anyone else winning the league. And it’s impossible to make a case for Jose Mourinho’s side winning it.
Speaking to media, United midfielder Marouane Fellaini said the results of the competition highlighted the current huge gap between the two teams, and the Belgium star held a negative attitude. He believes that there is not much difference between United and City.
“I don’t think so. I remember when I arrived in England it was a top four, now it is top six, so every year it is more difficult.” Fellaini said.
“Next season we will see how it changes and in two and three years I think every year it is more difficult, the intensity is higher, so that’s why the Premier League is attractive.
“Manchester City are strong, but I think they will lose. Ok, they are very good and they have good players but it’s possible to bet them. We lost, but we have the second game at Old Trafford and we will see.” Fellaini added.

City won the Premier League title with a record-breaking 100 points last season. United, meanwhile, they finished at second place with 81 points.
Pep Guardiola is still hungry for wins. This is the third campaign of the former FC Barcelona manager at City. The 47-year-old Spaniard has still allowed City to win second Premier League title. In the 2016/17 season, they finished third behind Chelsea and Tottenham.
Fellaini also admitted that Guardiola’s team really has something to admire: “They are very confident, all of them. They played very well, they play attacking football and they have a good dynamic.
United will host City on March 16 next year at Old Trafford. Fellaini belives United has chance to beat their visitors in the next Manchester derby.
