Miguel Oliveira went berserk after being overtaken by Marc Marquez in the 2024 Austrian MotoGP at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Sunday (18/8).
In this race, Oliveira failed to achieve maximum results after finishing 12th, while Marquez finished fourth on the podium.
Oliveira, who started from 13th position, had pushed up to 12th position. However, Marquez’s overly aggressive maneuver when overtaking caused Oliveira’s position to drop to 18th place.
Marquez, who started from third position, ran wide at the first corner with Franco Morbidelli, then was thrown to 14th position.
After that Marquez overtook Oliveira. This maneuver put Oliveira on the left side and was overtaken by a number of racers. The incident made this racer from Portugal annoyed.
“Marc overtook me in his usual style. I ended up losing a lot of positions because of that,” said Oliveira, quoted from Paddock GP.
Even so, Oliveira was still grateful because he didn’t crash into the gravel or even have an accident. However, Oliveira still regretted dropping several places and finishing outside the top 10 due to the aggressive behavior of other racers.
“Even though I didn’t end up in the gravel, I fell back and needed a few laps to recover,” said the 29-year-old racer.
“Even with good speed, this chaotic moment cost me dearly,” Oliveira continued.
Apart from Oliveira, Pramac racer, Franco Morbidelli, admitted that he was lucky not to fall at the first corner when he collided with Marc Marquez.
Morbidelli and Marquez were involved in a collision after starting the 2024 Austrian MotoGP. Both racers almost fell and went wide at the first corner.
Morbidelli said Marquez had problems with the motorbike and took his line before entering the first corner. The two racers collided.
“When I entered turn one, Marquez had a problem. I don’t think he activated the front device or something, so he had a different speed,” said Morbidelli.
“Marquez drove to the left as I was going, and we collided. However, in the end nothing happened and I’m happy with that,” said Morbidelli.
The collision incident made Marquez drop to 13th position and Morbidelli dropped to 18th. However, both racers performed extraordinary with The Baby Alien finishing fourth and Morbidelli finishing eighth.
