Marquez’s Record and His Refusal to be Compared with Messi

Honda professional rider, Marc Marquez, refused to be called Lionel Messi in the MotoGP world. Marc Marquez has arguably become a world legend of motorbike racing due to his five MotoGP world titles in the last six years.

The title of the Spanish man in MotoGP is equivalent to the collection of the Ballon d’Or trophy or the World Best Player of the Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi. Regarding the similarity, Marc Marquez thinks he cannot be called the Lionel Messi in the world of motorsport. “It will be a big mistake. I will jump off the cliff when compared to Messi,” Marquez told DAZN. “Messi is Messi. He is my overall idol because of what he did on the field,” said the 26-year-old Spaniard, quoted from FoxSports.

Marquez claimed to have met Messi for 3-4 times and every time he spoke to him, the Argentine superstar greeted Marquez. “When Messi comes and behaves as an ordinary person, it is something that I really respect and is very valuable to me,” he said. Previously, Marquez won the MotoGP season 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Marquez became the youngest rider to win five MotoGP world titles. He beats the record owned by Italian Movistar rider Valentino Rossi.

The Baby Alien entered into the racing arena in 2008 at the age of 15 years. His first world title was won in 2010 in the 125cc class and in the following year, he went to Moto 2 class. It took one year for Marquez to beat Moto2. In his debut season, Marquez could only be runner-up. In 2012, Marquez dominated Moto2. A glorious achievement for three seasons made expectations for Marquez very high when he made his 2013 MotoGP debut.

Marc Marquez himself began his mission to target the sixth world title in MotoGP 2019 race season. The competition will begin on March 10, 2019 with the opening series at the Losail Circuit, Qatar. One special note for the opening will be the chance to start the race earlier. Dorna as the boss and MotoGP promoter Carmelo Ezpeleta said he would consider the proposal of the riders to advance the race start one hour earlier due to safety reason.
