Massimiliano Allegri has refused an offer to go coach Arsenal. The 52-year-old Italian intends to enjoy a creative vacation before returning to coaching next summer, according to reports.
Unai Emery has been sacked after 18 months in charge, it is official he is no longer the Arsenal manager. The Spaniard has been replaced on a temporary basis by assistant Freddie Ljungberg.
The Gunners finished fifth in Emery’s first season in charge after he replaced Arsene Wenger. They have conceded 19 goals in 13 games this season.
“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.” Arsenal said in a statement.
Emery was a pretty good manager. He did quite well with a very good Sevilla squad, and bang average with the best possible PSG squad. The 48-year-old manager is the third managerial dismissal in the Premier League this season, after Javi Gracia and Pochettino departed Watford and Tottenham.
Arsenal have the slowest centre back pairing in the league. Emery is one of those managers who obsess over attention to detail. It is a well-known fact that he goes through video footage and discusses it with his players to improve them.
Arsenal made their biggest decision of the last two decades this year. They finally decided to replace legendary manager Wenger. When the Frenchman ended his regime at Emirates last season, he left his successor in very high and dry.
According to reports, Arsenal had identified former Juventus manager Allegri as a potential replacement for Emery. However, the Italian had doubts about taking the job this year.
Allegri is basically “THE RESTORATION MAN”, he has done that at Inter Milan, Juve and now tipped to be the next Arsenal manager. Juventus won 5 straight scudettos under him and reached two Champions League finals after playing quite well in both campaigns.
Earlier, it was reported that Allegri could replace Carlo Ancelotti as Napoli manager if he sacked due to a series of poor results of the Neapolitan team in the Serie A.
