Movistar Yamaha manager team Massimo Meregalli said he was satisfied with performance of Yamaha’s riders until mid-season of 2017. Although at the end of the race they had trouble in some races.
The mid-season has arrived and in the record of the summer break, it emerges that MotoGP championships is more open than ever. After nine races, five winners and four different winners, was the physiognomy of this first half season.
Yamaha had been poor form in seventh series of first half season, which took place at Barcelona Grand Prix. Both Yamaha’s riders Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales were knocked out of the top five and finished in eight and tenth.
“In Barcelona we failed to show the good performance seen in the previous race. We understand where we are. Unfortunately we managed to win [Catalunya],” Meregalli said.
“We were able to react very quickly and that is a positive point. We then won at Assen GP, which was important. Our response time was very good. We know where we are. We are no longer leading the table standings and it is a shame. But we are very close to the head.” he added.
The table standings is currently led by Honda Respsol’s Marc Marquez with 129 points, just 5 points ahead of Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales, while Rossi at fourth place with 5 points behind his team-mate. As for Yamaha’s reaction, it was manifested by two days of intensive testing on the Cataloian track, which had suffered so much from the official M1s at the Grand Prix.

Speaking last month Rossi said a new chassis appeared. After a torrid weekend in Barcelona, the Doctor told the new frame to be better, and still has another version to try next.
“I always struggle with this bike for turning, for entry to the corner. I’m very comfortable. At 100%,” Rossi said to crash.net recently.
“So today we had a different chassis, a little bit, Yamaha’s work always very much under this point of view. And much better, I like, I prefer the bike like this. It’s easier, it’s better for my style.
“For me the bike turns a bit better and I enter into the corner faster. So this is the way. You can be more precise and is also more fun to ride.” the Italian added.
