Matches not to be missed in March 2019

The world champions faces with a number of compacted tournaments in March 2019.

The oldest badminton tournament, the All England, become the opening act in March. The BWF World Tour 1000 tournament will be held March 6-10 at the Birmingham Arena, England. Players will fight to win total prize of USD 1 million. This is one of the most prestigious badminton tournaments of the world which has been held since 1899. This year marks the 108th edition of Yonex All England with 155 matches to be enjoyed.

In addition, the Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, have the chance to score a hat-trick for the All England title after obtaining it in 2017 and 2018.

The second tournament held by the Badminton Federation (Badminton World Federation / BWF) in March is the China Masters. The World Super 100 Tour Tournament will take place March 12-17 in Lingshui, China. The event delivers total prize of USD 75.000.  The tournament which is organized by Chinese Badminton Association has been started since 2001.

Moreover, The 2019 Swiss Open is the third tournament to enter the World Super 300 level to be held in Basel along with the holding of the China Masters on March 12-17 with total prize money of USD 150.000.

Other World Super 100 tournaments included in the BWF calendar are the Orleans Masters and take place at Palais Des Sports Orleans from March 19 to March 24. Same as the China Masters, this event has total money prize of USD 75.000.

2019 Badminton Asian Mixed Team Championship (Hong Kong), March 19-24 becomes one of the first group tournaments held in March. The tournament, named Tong Yun Kai Cup 2019 and took place at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, became a warm-up championship towards the mixed team championship, the Sudirman Cup, scheduled for next May.

There will be only 11 teams to join the event which is 2 teams less than previous tournament in 2017. They are teams from Japan, HongKong, Chinese Taipei, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Srilanka, China, Malaysia, and Macao. In previous event, Japan won after defeating South Korea with score 3-0.

The last tournament that takes place in March is the Indian Open and takes place on March 26-31. The World Super 500 tournament will be held in New Delhi and provide a total prize of 350,000 US dollars.
