Mateo Kovacic’s future seems to be heading towards Manchester City as the Croatian midfielder reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Premier League champions. Chelsea has granted Manchester City permission to hold talks with Kovacic, signalling their willingness to sell the Croatian midfielder. Meanwhile, Kovacic himself has confirmed his readiness to depart Stamford Bridge after a disappointing season. With five years at Chelsea coming to an end, the 29-year-old midfielder is seeking a fresh start.
“I have one year left on my contract with Chelsea. It’s been a really bad season. Everything indicates that I will change the environment after five years, but we will see what happens,” expressed Kovacic. He also praised Manchester City as a top team chasing their first treble win in English football since 1999, fueling speculation about a potential move to the Etihad Stadium.
“Manchester City is a top team and deserves to be in the Champions League final. That’s what I have to say. The summer is still long, and we’ll see what will happen in the future,” Kovacic added.
