Max Verstappen on Sunday won the Mexican Grand Prix that brings him closer to the 2021 title in Formula 1. The Aztec country sat well the Dutch driver who showed his emotion after winning the race over Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, his main pursuer.
Verstappen visited the country of his teammate, Sergio “Checo” Perez, who at times led the line of cars but could not overcome either the seven-time world champion Hamilton, or the 24-year-old with whom he shares a seat.
The Red Bull driver was interviewed once he got out of the car to give the first words after his first place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez:
“It is incredible to have Checo (Perez) as a teammate coming here to Mexico is incredible. The fans here are incredible. They love F1,” Verstappen said.
Verstappen could lift the title of the Big Top in this 2021 after continuing with the harvest of points on Lewis Hamilton, the Briton who is one scepter of becoming the top winner of F1, still above the legendary Michael Schumacher.
It should not be forgotten that for several years the Mexican Grand Prix is considered the best race in F1 due to the emotion that the attendees impress on each lap.
While in other parts of the world it is like going to the opera, in Mexico, people shout as if it were a soccer stadium. Verstappen knows it, because it is the third time that he can prove what it is to win on Mexican ground.
Perez, meanwhile, took the victories in 2017 and 2018, although in 2019 Hamilton surpassed him on the track. And it should be noted that the 2020 Mexican GP had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
