Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather (50-0-0, 27 KOs) could come out of retirement to box the lightweight UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a battle of undefeated fighters.
According to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, Mayweather puts pressure on him behind the scenes to fight with Khabib.
“I and he have both been texting each other over the past month and if Floyd says that’s not the case, I’ll put everything online. Do not lie, Floyd!” Abdelaziz said.
He is begging for this fight. I told him, he is 57 years old, his body is weak, he is fragile, he has a small head. People think I’m crazy but I think Khabib will beat his ass.
“He thinks he can make easy money with Khabib, but Khabib is much younger, stronger, and harder to fight than Conor; a guy who did 11 rounds with him. And Conor gave up, he’s a quitter. Khabib is not a quitter.” Abdelaziz added.
Khabib took shape in recent months, when the Russian fighter and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe were seen in a video where the UFC champion asked the legendary undefeated champion to face him.
Mayweather on December 31, before the New Year delivered a three-round exhibition, but he needed only two minutes to destroy, in the first round, the young Japanese star of kickboxing, Tenshin Nasukawa.
The “Money” sent Nasukawa three times on the canvas in front of an amine audience at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama. After the third knockdown, Nasukama’s corner deemed it necessary to throw the towel.
Mayweather, who is a former five-division weighty champion, has sought to make clear that he still sees himself as a retired boxer:
“Everything has been done for entertainment. We had a lot of fun. I do not plan to make a boxing comeback, but I did just that to entertain fans in Japan,” Mayweather said.
“This fight will not be added to my card, nor on Tenshin’s card. Tenshin is still unbeaten. I am still unbeaten. This has just been a fun time for people.” he added.
This was the second time Mayweather has been momentarily out of retirement. He stopped UFC superstar Conor McGregor, in the 10th round, in a boxing match entertainment in 2017.
