Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Kylian Mbappe has been in the media’s spotlight in recent months. Mbappe admits that it made him feel tired and uncomfortable.
Mbappe is increasingly being discussed because his contract period with PSG will expire on June 30, 2022. No doubt, this condition is increasingly causing him to be rumored to be leaving. Moreover, Mbappe has become the target of European elite clubs.
However, not only that. Although Mbappe has managed to show great performance so far, it turns out that he has also come under criticism. Most recently, Mbappe has been criticized for his unsatisfactory performance with the French national team in the 2022 European zone World Cup qualifiers.
On the first matchday against Ukraine, Mbappe performed poorly and Les Blues could only draw 1-1. Meanwhile, on the second matchday against Kazakhstan, Mbappe failed to convert the penalty into a goal.
Mbappe admitted that the criticism from the media made him feel very tired. Mbappe is also aware that among the other French players, he is the one who gets the most attention. According to him, it happened because he played in the French League.
“Of course (criticism from the media) is tiring, especially when you play for a club in your country and you give everything for your national team. After a while it’s tiring,” said Mbappe, quoted by Goal, Thursday (1/4/2021) .
“It’s different for players who play abroad and only come back here for the national team. I’m there (in France) all the time, they (the media) talk more about me,” he explained.
“It’s a different context (with other players), but I knew it would be like that when I signed for Paris (Saint-Germain). We’ll see next, “said the 22-year-old striker.
Mbappe’s statement seemed to give a code that he wanted to try a new atmosphere by playing in a different league. Moreover, Mbappe also acknowledged that pressure from the media had a huge impact on him in making decisions about his future.
“Of course it (the pressure from the media) plays a role, but not only that. The most important thing is to feel comfortable where you are, and have fun every day,” added Mbappe.
